I've been racing triathlons now for about 10 years but still feel like I have so much to learn. In 2023, I realized a dream: To race in Kona, at the Ironman World Championships, which was as magical as everyone says it is. I've also competed in the 70.3 (Half Ironman) World Championships and for Team USA, racing in The Netherlands, Australia, and Switzerland. I've been a USAT All American for the last 6 years, and an Ironman Gold All World Athlete for the last two. After serving as ATC President for two years, I'm super excited to be staying on the board as Vice President. And I hope that you'll all join us at club training and events. See you at the races!

I was never one for athletics until my dad started biking when I was in my 20s, and I joined him. I’d to a few rides every now and then that looked fun such as the 5 Born Bike Tour in NYC. When a friend organized a 5k in Baltimore during my 30s, I decided to give running a try and again looked for fun runs such as the Bay Bridge Run. I never thought much about triathlons until the first Sailors Tri was organized in 2018. I signed up, joined ATC and began training. Since then, I’ve done bunch of sprints, a couple endurance swims, and an Olympic. ATC has been a great community with supportive people who welcome you no matter where you are in your training and racing endeavors. I’m hoping to work up to my first half in the next couple years.

I'm not a natural born athlete. In my mid 40's I discovered inline skating one Christmas day and that was the beginning. Within a year I did the Athens to Atlanta 86 mile inline race, training with the Leukemia Society's Team in Training. Within a few years I decided my next fall may very well end up with a broken bone so I decided to try running. Did a few small races and realized I wanted to do a marathon so I joined the Annapolis Striders Marathon training group and did the Marine Corps Marathon that year. I also decided to do a century ride so I bought my first bike, at Bike Doctor Arnold and did the Lake Tahoe Century. Next, trail running seemed like something fun to try so I did the JFK 50 Miler to celebrate turning 50! Starting to get bored with just running I thought a triathlon should be my next adventure so I joined the Annapolis Triathlon Club. After just one sprint and one 70.3 a few members of the club convinced me to do a full Ironman. Since then I've done 3 full Ironmans and 8, 70,3's. Do you see a pattern here? I jump right into the big events with the attitude what's the worst that can happen but always surround myself with a team or club for support.

I started my triathlon career years ago with the IronGirl races in Columbia. Heard about the resources of the ATC through a friend and then joined (2013) to find resources galore and access to just about everything triathlon plus some. I've learned and grown so much since those IronGirl races. My race calendar goes year round with swim races, 100 mile bike rides, foot races, trail runs, sprints, OLY's, 70.3 and full distance IM's. Completed my first IM Lake Placid in 2018 and Chattanooga in 2019. Finished 5 Marine Corps marathons plus a marathon in Bozeman, Montana. My son joined the Marine Corps which ignited my passion to run but I couldn't stop when he finished his service. Its just fun! My daughter is in the Army so I've done a few Army 10 milers and countless 13 milers too. My best race so far is Lake Placid and getting to swim with Heather Jackson the next day in mirror lake. She's just the best. I retired from work in 2018 and have been training for that next thing ever since. Have three adult children, two obnoxious corgi's, one cat and one fish (that my daughter refused to take to college with her). Love being around other triathletes as they have the same energy and enthusiasm and they just "get it". Its been a journey and a learning experience and I'm truly blessed to be able to do these things. Its time I give back what I can to the organization.

I did my first triathlon in 2016, Iron Girl Columbia. I have been hooked ever since, doing 3 or 4 sprint races a year. I really love the energy of race day and the camaraderie of the sport. I love all the support I get from the training and other members of the Annapolis Triathlon Club.

I’ve been a regular runner (well, off-and-on!) for about 15 years, finally completing my first marathon in the fall of 2021. I bought a bike in early 2022 and started cycling a lot, and completed my first triathlon in June in Rock Hall, MD. I immediately went home to sign up for another race - I was hooked! I’ve since completed three triathlons and am looking forward to many, many more!
